Reducing Inequality ¨C The Great Challenge of Our Time

²ÝÁñÊÓÆµ-WIDER and UNIANDES will convene a three-day conference on reducing inequality in Bogot¨¢, Colombia on 5¨C7 October 2022.

The ²ÝÁñÊÓÆµ World Institute for Development Economics Research (²ÝÁñÊÓÆµ-WIDER), in partnership with Universidad de los Andes (UNIANDES), will convene a three-day conference on reducing inequality, held in Bogot¨¢, Colombia, on 5¨C7 October 2022.

As new research uncovers the many negative impacts that high inequality can have, a consensus is emerging that achieving is a global goal of critical importance.

This WIDER Development Conference, the second of 2022, will provide a forum to discuss innovative, theoretical, and empirical research on inequality, and its policy takeaways. Participaanyts will will take stock of where we are, evaluate the progress made, and identify the challenges that lay ahead.

The programme will address major themes in inequality across keynote lectures, parallel sessions, and a policy dialogue event. Speakers include leading scholars of inequality, including Raquel Fern¨¢ndez and Francisco H.G. Ferreira. In addition, a parallel series organized by the VII Colombian Economy Congress, will form part of the programme.

The event will close with the WIDER Annual Lecture 2022, given by Daron Acemo?lu.
