The ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-EGOV) welcomed a group of students from the Social Work degree programme of the for a study visit focused on digital rights and the social implications of advanced technologies.
The visit, which brought together 18 participants, including four professors, began with a welcoming session and presentation of ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-EGOV by Elisabete Sim?es, Head of Administration. This was followed by the talk ¡°Dream Big: Exploring Career Paths at the United Nations¡±, delivered by Viktorija Jordanoska, Human Resources Advisor, who introduced participants to the values, opportunities, and responsibilities of working in the UN system.
Next, Bushra Ebadi, Researcher at ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-EGOV, led an interactive session on ¡°Digital Rights & Wellbeing: Risks and Harms of Advanced Technologies¡±. The discussion explored how technologies can both empower and endanger human rights, examining issues such as digital surveillance, content takedowns, privacy breaches, algorithmic discrimination, and data commodification.
The visit concluded with a group photo, marking a morning of dialogue and reflection on how technology, rights, and ethics intersect in today¡¯s digital society.
