Bonn, 21 November 2023 ¨C The core funding of ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ in Bonn will be increased by almost 1.3 million euros in 2024 and by 1.8 million euros in each of the following years. This was decided by the German Bundestag¡¯s Budget Committee at its adjustment meeting last Friday.
The increase in core funding will benefit the ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Vice-Rectorate in Europe (²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-VIE) and the Institute for Environment and Human Security (²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-EHS).
The ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ, headquartered in Tokyo, is the academic arm of the UN and acts as a global think tank. The mission of the Institute for Environment and Human Security in Bonn is to conduct cutting-edge research on risks and adaptation in the context of environmental hazards and global change. The Institute¡¯s research promotes strategies and programmes to reduce these risks, taking into account the interplay of environmental and social factors.
Also located in Bonn is the Vice-Rectorate in Europe, which supports the institutional growth of ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ (²ÝÁñÊÓƵ) and helps coordinate ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ¡¯s activities. It is the only Vice-Rectorate outside the ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ headquarters in Tokyo.
