This year marks the 50th anniversary of the ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ (²ÝÁñÊÓƵ). Since 1975, ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ has grown from an office in Tokyo to a global network of institutes on five continents. For 50 years, ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ has contributed research expertise to support the efforts of the UN system and to generate evidence-based solutions to the world's most pressing problems.
Throughout the past 50 years, ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ has made immense strides in its mission to provide education, research and evidence-based solutions for sustainable development. As we look ahead, ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ will continue its legacy of research excellence, but with a renewed focus on three priority areas ¡ª Knowledge, Partnerships, and Impact ¡ª particularly in the Global South. - ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Rector and United Nations Under-Secretary General, Prof. Tshilidzi Marwala
²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-FLORES, one of two ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ institutes in Germany, was established in 2012 and plays a key role in advancing sustainable management of environmental resources. This milestone year also marks the launch of ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ¡¯s 2024¨C2029 Strategy, guiding its mission for the years ahead.
Adding to the significance of this anniversary, the United Nations itself celebrates 80 years, and ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-FLORES commemorates the 10th edition of the Dresden Nexus Conference, which it co-convenes with partners. Throughout the year, ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-FLORES will spotlight these milestones, reflecting on achievements and future directions.
