On 21 December 2022, Houseng Lee, Chair of the (IPCC), visited ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-IAS to discuss the latest science knowledge on climate change and sustainable development, and the role of ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-IAS in enhancing the evidence base at the global level.
During the meeting, Shinobu Yume Yamaguchi (Director, ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-IAS) reported on the significant role of the IPCC assessment reports in the education sector. Akio Takemoto (Programme Head, ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-IAS) and Maheshti Okitasari (Consultant, ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-IAS) outlined ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-IAS contributions to advancing the knowledge on synergies between climate action and the SDGs. They highlighted ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-IAS capacity building and education programmes, including the new postgraduate degree specialisation on the Paris Agreement to be launched in 2023.
