The Regional Centres of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development (RCEs) are networks that facilitate learning and action on sustainability in local communities. Each RCE brings together organizations and individuals to promote education for sustainable development (ESD), build innovative knowledge-sharing platforms, and encourage dialogue and collaboration between diverse stakeholders.
RCEs started in 2005 as part of the ESD project of ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-IAS which contributed to the United Nations Decade of ESD. Through their local knowledge and convening power, RCEs play a crucial role in advancing the priority action areas of the ¡ª increasing the contribution of education towards a more just and sustainable world.
There are 200 RCEs acknowledged by ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ, forming the Global RCE Network, a transboundary learning space for sustainable development.
